Why on earth is Salty T still coaching a national side? Why do we continue to regurgitate coaches who lack any imagination. Same old northern Hemisphere style rubbish. Get the ball run into opponent. Heck I remember back in 2006 or thereabouts Saltys national team couldn't even beat Taipei. I later found out that not only do Taipei, along with most of the 3rd and 4th tier nations we tended to play, not even have a website, but they were a group of phys ed students from one university who basically got together just to play rugby. And here we are again against a country with just 23 clubs and a total player base of 18000 and we barely win.
ReplyDeleteMaybe he had a bad tournament in 2006 but it seems like he is doing well now. Last year the High School All-Americans had a successful tour of South Africa. Some of those players went on to play for the Junior All-Americans that just won the JWRT. He's already put up two wins over Chile. The first win over Chile may have been close but the team hardly had any time together and has only been in the country for a day. Yesterday's win was a blowout. He seems pretty successful to me.
