TIAR Awards: College Player of the Year, Shaun Davies

One of the most difficult things to do in sports is to be the best player on a winning team when everyone expects you to. Just think about all the big busts in sports over the last several years that failed to live up to the hype. Shaun Davies isn't one of those players. Davies went into the 2012 with the expectation that he would be the leader for a BYU team that was expected to win a national title. He delivered. Davies was simply unstoppable this last season and he tore through whatever defense was put to him. As a scrumhalf he made the Cougar's offense tick like clockwork and he added valuable points for his team with his excellent kicking ability. He also saved the best for last with an outstanding performance in the DI-A final.

His strong play in college earned him a spot on the Eagles summer roster where he now looks to be the incumbent third candidate behind Mike Petri and Robbie Shaw. Davies is currently finishing up his last year and BYU and has options at both 7's and XV's. Whichever club snaps him up will have a great player to build their team around.
